Our history
We are enriched by the freedom that we all have in the workshop to play with the art and techniques that we discover every day.

when we approach rubber and henequen as history and nature enthusiasts.
Our Seed was planted ten years ago
At Xuxes we give life to artisanal and biodegradable products, handmade from 100% organic plant materials and electricity-free processes.
Both the Yucatecan agave and the rubber tree were domesticated by the Mayans long before the arrival of the Spanish; They are ancestral riches of the Mexican southeast and wild witnesses of our past. Playing and by accident, like so many great discoveries, we found the power that these elements had together. The mixture is a new material that we call xux, with which we hand-mold all types of unique and sustainable objects.

We wanted to move away from the industrial and synthetic to explore nature through the senses; We mix rubber and henequen guided by our eyes, hands and feet. We first create some shoes. We liked them: they adapted to us and brought us closer to the Yucatecan soil. From more experiments, new crafts emerged: lamps, pots, baskets, wallets, briefcases, covers, soap dishes, bags... Each craft that we add to our collection is born from the curiosity of our artisans and the community.
Xux (pronounced shush) is a Mayan word whose multiple meanings mix and tangle, like the fibers of our material. On the one hand, it means wasp and honeycomb; From this meaning is derived the Yucatecan expression “ponertexux”, which means beware or trout. On the other hand, it is the name of a bird's nest made of woven branches and roots.
